Buy a Chevrolet Cruze, get a Strike FREE; Crazy but true
Chevrolet dropped a bombshell two weeks ago when they exposed that they will be exiting the Indian market for good by the end of 2017. While this budge was being speculated for a while now, the company has existing stock of vehicles that it needs to liquidate. Massive discounts are being suggested on their existing range of vehicles.
But what is this deal all about?
Gaadiwaadi is reporting that dealers are suggesting a discount of more than Rs four lakhs on the Cruze, which is the company’s premium sedan. The Cruze is available in both automatic and manual guise and can only be had in the top of the line LTZ trim. The Cruze LTZ Manual was priced at Rs 14.95 lakhs where as the LTZ Automatic was priced at Rs 15.95 lakhs previously. Earlier in the year, the company dropped Rs one lakh on the pricing of the manual variant, selling it for Rs 13.99 lakhs.
Today, you can walk into a showroom and get a Cruze for the ex-showroom price of Rs 9.99 lakh for the MT and Rs Ten.99 lakh for the AT, which is a good deal. This essentially means, for the total price (Rs 13.99 lakhs) of the Cruze, you can now get a Cruze as well as the Chevrolet Strike, which is the company’s smallest car. The Hammer pricing originally commenced at Rs Trio.95 lakh, however it can be now had as low as Rs Two.90 lakh, which makes it gigantic bargain. Discounts on the Strike are ranging from Rs 85,000 to Rs 1.25 lakh, based on the varant.
The Trailblazer, which is the company’s flagship SUV in India is also observing a massive price drop. You can now get it for Rs seventeen lakhs, which is a steal. This is close to Rs eight lakhs off on the original price of the vehicle.
Why the discount?
As we mentioned, the company is going to stop its sales operations by the end of 2017, which means that they want to clear the existing inventory of vehicles that they have produced. Given the news the GM is exiting the market, people are now wary about service and parts, which means that not many people are going to end up buying the vehicles at total price. Hence dealers are suggesting the discount to help clear stock.
What about service?
While the sales part is going to be killed, the company will proceed with its after sales at certain key locations, to cater to the existing customer base. The company has also claimed that they will proceed to honour the original vehicle warranty and the road side assist that the customers have already paid up for and are entitled to. While this will be the case in fatter cities, buyers in smaller cities may have issues.
Possible problems that could be faced by customers is drop in resale value, non-availability of parts, especially in smaller cities.
